Description
Description
This Red Acan Lord is a vibrant and attractive coral that features a rich red base color with striking blue-green highlights in its polyps. Its unique growth pattern forms distinct corallites, creating an intricate and captivating display for any reef aquarium. This coral will be a focal point in your tank with its intense coloration and interesting texture. The individual polyps are well-defined, providing exceptional visual interest.
Acans thrive under moderate PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) levels, typically ranging from 75 to 150. While they can tolerate lower light, optimal coloration and growth are observed within this range. Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to keep the coral clean and deliver nutrients without causing tissue damage. Avoid direct, strong flow, which can cause retraction and stress. Placement on the sand bed or lower in the rockwork is generally recommended.
These corals benefit from regular feeding of meaty foods such as mysis, brine shrimp, or specialized LPS pellets. Target feeding a few times a week will promote faster growth and healthier polyps. Maintain stable water parameters: temperature 75-79°F, salinity 1.025-1.026, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Consistent parameters are crucial for their well-being.
Red Acans are generally peaceful but can be aggressive towards other corals if they come into direct contact. Ensure adequate spacing between the Acan Lord and neighboring corals to prevent any chemical warfare or stinging. During acclimation, use a drip acclimation method over at least 30-60 minutes to slowly introduce the coral to your tank's water parameters, minimizing stress and promoting a smooth transition after shipping. This coral is a fantastic choice for both novice and experienced reef keepers looking for a low-maintenance, high-impact addition.
Adding this Red Acan Lord to your reef tank will instantly elevate its visual appeal with its stunning coloration and unique structure. Its relatively easy care requirements make it a rewarding coral to keep, providing dynamic beauty and movement as its polyps extend. A healthy Acan is a testament to a well-maintained reef system, and this specimen will certainly not disappoint, bringing vivid life to your underwater landscape.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
