Description
Description
This Red Chalice coral is a stunning addition to any reef aquarium, displaying vibrant shades of red and pink with intricate textures. Its broad, plate-like growth form adds a unique aesthetic to your aquascape, creating visual interest and a focal point with its captivating color and structure. The deep red hues are especially striking under actinic lighting, making it truly glow in your tank.
Chalices thrive under moderate to low PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) levels, typically between 50-150 PAR. While they appreciate some water movement, strong direct flow can be detrimental, so aim for a gentle, indirect flow pattern. Placement on the sandbed or lower to mid-level rockwork is generally ideal to provide the appropriate light and flow conditions.
Feeding chalice corals is important for their health and growth. They are active feeders and will readily accept small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and coral specific pellets or powders. Target feeding a few times a week will promote robust growth and vibrant coloration. Maintain stable water parameters: Temperature 74-78ยฐF, Salinity 1.025-1.026, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm.
Chalices can be moderately aggressive. They possess sweeper tentacles that can extend at night and sting nearby corals. Ensure adequate spacing between your chalice and other corals to prevent chemical warfare and tissue damage. Acclimating chalice corals should be done slowly using the drip acclimation method over at least 30-60 minutes to minimize stress and ensure a smooth transition to your aquarium environment.
This Red Chalice is more than just a coral; it is a living jewel that brings a splash of dramatic color and interesting texture to your reef. Its relatively easy care requirements, combined with its stunning appearance and growth patterns, make it a rewarding choice for both novice and experienced reef keepers looking to enhance their underwater landscape with a truly eye-catching specimen.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
