Description
Description
This beautiful Red Montipora displays a stunning, vibrant red coloration across its entire plate-like structure. The surface is covered in numerous small, raised polyps that give it a textured appearance. The edges of the coral can show slight variations in pink and purple hues, adding to its visual appeal. This species typically grows in an encrusting or plating form, creating an eye-catching focal point in any reef aquarium.
Red Montipora requires moderate to high PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) lighting to maintain its intense coloration and promote healthy growth. Aim for PAR levels between 150-300. Moderate to strong, turbulent water flow is essential to keep the coral clean and deliver nutrients, while preventing detritus buildup. Place this Montipora on a stable rockwork structure in the middle to upper sections of your reef tank to ensure adequate lighting and flow.
While largely photosynthetic, Red Montipora will benefit from supplemental feeding. Offer broadcast feeds of fine particulate foods such as zooplankton or specialized SPS coral foods a few times a week. Maintain stable water parameters: Temperature 74-78°F, Salinity 1.025-1.026, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, and Magnesium 1300-1350 ppm. Consistent water quality is paramount for its long-term health.
This coral is generally peaceful but should be given adequate space from more aggressive corals with sweeping tentacles. Proper acclimation using a drip method over several hours is crucial to minimize stress upon introduction to your aquarium. Ensure that all new corals are dipped to prevent the introduction of pests and diseases.
Red Montipora is a fantastic choice for both beginner and experienced reef keepers looking for a hardy and brilliantly colored SPS coral. Its relatively fast growth rate and captivating appearance make it a rewarding addition, quickly transforming your aquascape with its rich red tones and unique growth patterns. It contributes significantly to the biodiversity and visual richness of a thriving reef environment.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
