Description
These vibrant Red Zoas are a stunning addition to any reef aquarium, instantly catching the eye with their brilliant coloration. Each polyp features a bright red skirt with a contrasting inner ring and a captivating orange or pink center, creating a dazzling display. Zoanthids are colonial polyps that grow by budding, forming dense mats over time, adding unique texture and movement to your aquascape. They are a popular choice for both beginner and experienced reef keepers due to their resilience and wide variety of colors. These Red Zoas will thrive and multiply, creating a beautiful carpet of color in your tank.
Zoanthids are relatively easy to care for, making them an excellent choice for those new to reef keeping. They prefer moderate PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) levels, typically between 50-150 PAR, but can adapt to a wider range. Placement in the middle to lower regions of your tank is often ideal. Moderate, indirect flow is best to ensure detritus does not settle on the polyps, but too much direct flow can prevent them from opening fully. They are not particular about placement and can be situated on live rock, frag plugs, or even directly on the sand bed.
While Zoanthids primarily rely on their symbiotic zooxanthellae for nutrition (photosynthesis), occasional supplemental feeding can encourage faster growth and more vibrant colors. Fine particulate foods like phytoplankton, zooplankton, or a high-quality coral food can be broadcast fed or target fed to the polyps when they are open. Maintain stable water parameters: Temperature 74-78°F, Salinity 1.023-1.026, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm, and Nitrates below 10 ppm. Regular water changes are crucial for maintaining water quality and replenishing trace elements.
Red Zoas are generally peaceful but can be aggressive towards other corals if they grow too close, often by stinging or outcompeting for space. Ensure adequate spacing from less aggressive corals, especially sessile invertebrates. For acclimation, a standard drip acclimation process over 30-60 minutes is recommended to allow them to slowly adjust to your tank's water parameters. After acclimation, place them in their desired location and observe for full polyp extension within a few hours to a day. With proper care, these Red Zoas will flourish, providing a dynamic and colorful focal point in your reef environment for years to come.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
