Description

The Reverse Hammer Coral is a popular colour morph of the classic Euphyllia paraancora. As a member of the Euphyllia genus, it brings a unique form of movement and life to a reef aquarium. Unlike traditional hammer corals, the "reverse" variety has its colouration inverted, offering a different take on a familiar favourite. It's a branching LPS coral that has been a staple in the hobby for many years.

This coral grows a branching, calcified skeleton from which its large polyps extend. The tentacles are long and fleshy, ending in the characteristic T-shaped "hammer" tip. In a reverse hammer, the tentacles themselves are typically green or brown, while the tips are a contrasting cream, pink, or light purple. These polyps expand and contract throughout the day and sway gently in the current, creating a captivating sense of motion in the tank.

For best results, place the Reverse Hammer in a location with moderate, indirect water flowโ€”enough to see a gentle sway in the tentacles without them being battered or retracted. Moderate lighting levels, typically in the 100-150 PAR range, are ideal. While it is photosynthetic, it will benefit from occasional feedings of small, meaty foods like mysis shrimp. Maintain stable water parameters with calcium around 400-450 ppm and alkalinity between 8-12 dKH. Be sure to give it plenty of room, as its sweeper tentacles can extend several inches at night and will sting neighboring corals.

A well-placed Reverse Hammer adds a dynamic element that few other corals can match. Its branching growth pattern creates vertical structure and visual interest in the mid-water column of the aquarium. It's a great choice for a mixed reef, provided its space requirements are respected. Over time, it can grow into a large, impressive colony.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
