Description
The Reverse Hammer Coral is a popular and distinctive variety of the classic branching hammer, a long-standing favourite in the reef aquarium hobby. This large polyp stony (LPS) coral is known for its graceful movement and unique colour pattern, setting it apart from more common hammer colourations. It belongs to the family Euphylliidae, a group well-regarded for adding a sense of life and motion to a reef tank.
This variety gets its "reverse" name from its colouration, which is an inversion of the typical pattern. The tentacles are usually a rich, deep colourโoften a solid green, purple, or brownโwhile the T-shaped tips are a contrasting cream, white, or pale green. The polyps are fleshy, extending from a branching skeletal base, and will sway beautifully in the current. As the colony grows, the branching skeleton creates an attractive three-dimensional structure.
A Reverse Hammer Coral will do well with moderate lighting, in the 100-200 PAR range, and moderate, indirect water flow. Stable water chemistry is key, with calcium at 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-10 dKH, and magnesium between 1300-1400 ppm. While it is photosynthetic, it will benefit from occasional targeted feedings of small meaty foods. All hammer corals have potent sweeper tentacles that can extend quite far, so be sure to give it plenty of roomโat least 15cm from its neighbours. We recommend a slow drip acclimation process.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
