Rose Gold Hammer Coral

The Rose Gold Hammer Coral, Euphyllia glabrescens, is a captivating LPS coral highly prized by reef keepers for its dramatic appearance and fluid movement. Its long, flowing tentacles with hammer-shaped tips create an active display in the reef aquarium, making it a focal point for many aquarists. This gold variant brings a beautiful, warm tone to any setup.

This specimen measures approximately 12cm across. Rose Gold Hammer Corals typically grow in a branching formation, with each branch terminating in a colony of polyps. When happy, the polyps extend fully, showcasing their iconic hammer tips. The entire colony exhibits a stunning gold colour, which shines under reef lighting, creating an elegant visual.

Caring for a Rose Gold Hammer Coral involves providing moderate PAR lighting, ideally between 75-150 PAR, to encourage good colour and health. Moderate, indirect water flow is best to allow the polyps to extend fully without being constantly battered. Placement on a mid-level rockwork ledge is generally suitable. While these corals primarily gain nutrition from photosynthesis, they will readily accept meaty foods like mysis shrimp or brine shrimp when target fed. Stable water parameters are crucial: maintain Calcium between 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity between 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium between 1300-1400 ppm. Hammer corals can be aggressive due to their sweeper tentacles, so ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent stinging. Acclimation should be slow, allowing the coral to adjust to your tank's specific conditions.

This coral makes an excellent centrepiece or accent piece in a mixed reef, especially when paired with contrasting colours or textures.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
