Description
Description
This striking Blue Acan Lord coral features vibrant blue and purple coloration, often accented with green or turquoise eyes on its textured polyps. Its unique growth pattern creates a captivating display, making it a focal point in any reef aquarium. Acan Lords (Acanthastrea lordhowensis) are cherished for their rich colors and relatively easy care, appealing to both novice and experienced reef keepers. This particular specimen showcases excellent polyp extension and overall health, ready to thrive in your tank.
Acan Lords prefer moderate PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) lighting, typically ranging from 75-150 PAR, but can adapt to a wider range over time with proper acclimation. Placement in the lower to mid-section of the aquarium is generally suitable. They appreciate moderate, indirect water flow to help keep their polyps clean and deliver nutrients without causing tissue damage. Avoid direct, strong flow that can retract polyps or cause them to recede.
For optimal health and growth, place your Acan Lord on a stable rock structure or directly on the sand bed where it will receive adequate light and flow. Ensure it has enough space from aggressive corals, as Acans can be aggressive and possess potent sweeper tentacles, especially at night. It is best to give them at least 3-4 inches of clear space from other corals. Consistent water parameters are crucial: maintain stable salinity (1.025-1.026 SG), temperature (76-78ยฐF), alkalinity (8-10 dKH), calcium (400-450 ppm), and magnesium (1300-1400 ppm).
While primarily photosynthetic, Acan Lords greatly benefit from target feeding. Offer small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialized coral foods a few times a week, ideally when their feeding tentacles are extended, typically after the lights dim. When introducing a new Acan Lord, proper drip acclimation over 30-60 minutes is recommended to minimize stress. Monitor for any signs of stress or pests in the initial weeks.
Adding this Blue Acan Lord to your reef tank will instantly elevate its aesthetic appeal with its mesmerizing colors and intricate patterns. Its robust nature and rewarding response to care make it an excellent choice for adding a splash of vibrant life and movement to your underwater landscape. Enjoy the captivating beauty and personality this coral brings to your home aquarium.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
