Acropora are a cornerstone of many reef aquariums, often seen as a benchmark for successful SPS husbandry. This particular specimen, a Toxic Green Acropora sp., showcases the vibrant colouration and intricate growth forms that make these corals so captivating. It is a classic choice for reef keepers looking to add structure and a pop of bright green to their display. This piece measures approximately 12cm. This Toxic Green Acropora sp. exhibits a branching growth habit, with many small polyps extending to capture light and food particles. The entire colony presents a striking green, offering a bold visual statement in the aquarium. Its polyps are typically extended during the day, giving the coral a fuzzy appearance that adds to its aesthetic appeal. For optimal health, this Acropora requires high PAR lighting, typically between 300-500 PAR. Strong, turbulent water flow is essential to keep the coral clean and deliver nutrients. Placement in the upper third of the aquarium is generally recommended to ensure adequate light and flow. While primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with fine particulate foods or amino acids can promote faster growth and enhanced colour. Stable water parameters are crucial: Calcium 400-450 ppm, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1450 ppm. Acropora can be aggressive with sweeper tentacles, so provide adequate spacing from neighbouring corals. Acclimation should be gradual, especially for lighting, to prevent shock.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
