Description
Description
The Elegance Coral, Catalaphyllia jardinei, is a unique large polyp stony coral known for its long, flowing tentacles that create a sense of movement unlike any other coral. It has been a centrepiece in marine aquariums for decades. This variety displays the classic bright green colour that makes the species so recognisable.
The animal grows from a v-shaped skeleton which anchors it into a soft substrate. From this base, it expands a large fleshy body with a striped oral disc and dozens of long, flowing tentacles. In this green variant, the tentacles are a vibrant green colour, often tipped with contrasting pink, purple, or cream dots that can fluoresce under actinic lighting.
In a home reef, the Elegance Coral does best placed directly on the sandbed. It requires low to moderate water flow, just enough to cause the tentacles to sway gently without being blasted. Lighting should also be in the low to moderate range, typically around 100-200 PAR, as high light can cause tissue recession. While photosynthetic, it does benefit from occasional target feeding of meaty foods. The Elegance has long, potent sweeper tentacles, so it needs to be given plenty of space from its neighbours. This species can be sensitive to changes in water quality, so a slow drip acclimation is recommended to help it adjust to its new home.
Its impressive size and constant motion make the Elegance Coral a standout specimen in any reef aquarium stable enough to house one. The specimen you receive will be a healthy animal of this same species, hand-picked for size and colour similar to the one pictured.
This is not a WYSIWYG item, however you'll receive a specimen similar to the one in the photo. Photo is of actual stock.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
