Toxic Green Flowerpot Coral

Flowerpot corals, known scientifically as Goniopora species, are a perennial favourite in the LPS coral hobby. Their distinctive long polyps gently sway in the current, creating a dynamic display. This particular specimen, a Toxic Green Flowerpot Coral, offers a vibrant green colouration that stands out in any reef aquarium. This piece measures approximately Frag. The common name "Flowerpot" reflects the dense, flower-like appearance of its polyps. These corals are often chosen for their aesthetic appeal and the serene motion they bring to a tank. These corals typically form a hemispherical or branching colony. The Toxic Green Flowerpot Coral displays a brilliant green throughout its entire polyp structure. Each polyp terminates in 24 tentacles, which are typically extended during the day, giving the colony its characteristic full, lush appearance. When fully extended, the polyps create a living carpet of movement and colour. Flowerpot corals thrive under moderate lighting, ideally between 75 and 150 PAR. They appreciate a moderate, indirect flow that allows their polyps to sway gently without being blasted. Placement on the sandbed or lower to mid-rockwork is generally suitable. While they possess zooxanthellae, providing supplemental feeding with fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton or zooplankton can significantly improve their health and growth. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium at 400-450 ppm, Alkalinity at 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium at 1250-1350 ppm. Given their long, sweeping polyps, ensure adequate space is provided from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression or stinging. Acclimate new specimens slowly to their new aquarium environment.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
