Description
Description
Goniopora, often called flowerpot corals, are a well-known group of LPS corals famous for their long, flowing polyps. This particular specimen is a classic example of the "toxic green" variety, displaying a deep and consistent green colouration that gives it a striking appearance in a reef aquarium. They bring a unique form of movement to the tank as their polyps sway in the current.
From a central stony base, Goniopora extends dozens of individual polyps, each ending in a distinct oral disc. In this green Goniopora, the entire structure, from the stalk to the tip, is a vibrant green. The polyps can extend significantly, sometimes up to 15-20cm, creating a meadow-like effect. They remain extended for most of the day under suitable conditions, retracting when disturbed or during the night.
Long-term success with Goniopora hinges on stable water parameters and consistent feeding. They prefer lower to moderate light, in the 100-200 PAR range, as intense lighting can cause the polyps to retract. Gentle, indirect water flow is best to avoid damaging the delicate polyps while providing enough movement to keep them clean. Placement in the lower to middle part of the tank, often on the sandbed, is ideal. Regular target feeding with phytoplankton and other fine-particulate coral foods 2-3 times a week is highly beneficial for their health. Maintain calcium between 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300-1400 ppm. Given their long tentacles, leave a generous 10-15cm of space between them and neighbouring corals.
The constant, gentle motion of a Goniopora colony adds a different dimension to a reef tank, complementing the more static stony corals. Their peaceful nature makes them a good citizen in most mixed reef systems, provided their space requirements are met. They are a welcome addition for the hobbyist ready to provide a bit of extra attention to feeding.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
