Toxic Pink Flowerpot Coral

Flowerpot corals, also known by their scientific name Goniopora, are captivating LPS corals that bring a unique presence to a reef aquarium. The Toxic Pink Flowerpot Coral is especially valued for its distinctive pink hue and the elegant way its polyps extend, creating a soft, flowing garden look. This specimen is a frag, making it an ideal candidate for placement in a variety of tank sizes. Despite their beauty, Goniopora have a reputation for being demanding, but with proper care, they can thrive and become a long-term feature in your reef. This particular pink variety offers a vibrant pop of colour.

This specific Toxic Pink Flowerpot Coral displays polyps that are a striking pink colour. When fully extended, these polyps create a mesmerising, feathery appearance, gently swaying with the water flow. Each polyp head houses a ring of tentacles, typically 24, which are responsible for capturing food. The pink colouration remains consistent throughout the coral, making it a focal point in the aquarium.

To ensure success with your pink Goniopora, moderate lighting (100-200 PAR) is recommended. Place it on the sand bed or in a lower to mid-level position where it receives indirect, moderate water flow. While zooxanthellate, Goniopora benefit significantly from regular target feeding of fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton and zooplankton. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium at 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity at 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium at 1300-1350 ppm. Acclimate your coral slowly using a drip method. Be mindful of its sweeper tentacles, which can extend at night; ensure adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
