Ultra Scolymia Morph

Scolymia are a fascinating group of large polyp stony (LPS) corals, highly sought after by reef keepers for their striking appearance and relatively straightforward care. This particular Ultra Morph showcases a vibrant range of colours that make it a standout in any reef system. They are often considered centrepiece corals due to their individual, disc-like growth. This piece measures approximately 5cm across. Ultra Scolymia morphs are truly special. They come in a breathtaking array of colours, often featuring multiple hues that radiate from the centre of the coral. Each Scolymia polyp is a single, large fleshy disc with a central mouth, and their rounded, plate-like skeletal structure supports this soft tissue. Their feeding tentacles are typically only visible at night, but the large, colourful oral disc is a constant display during the day. Scolymia thrive under moderate lighting, ideally between 75-150 PAR. They prefer gentle to moderate indirect water flow to keep detritus from settling on their tissues without causing irritation. Placement is flexible; they can be happy on the sand bed or securely attached to the lower or mid-rockwork. Feeding is important for Scolymia; offer meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods directly to the mouth a few times a week, ideally after the lights are off. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-450 ppm, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. While generally peaceful, ensure adequate spacing from other corals as they can extend mesenterial filaments at night if threatened. Acclimate them slowly to your system using a drip acclimation method for several hours.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
