WA Kingspawn Coral

Frogspawn Coral (Euphyllia divisa) is a popular large polyp stony (LPS) coral that adds dynamic movement and vibrant texture to a reef aquarium. Its distinctive tentacles, which resemble clusters of frog eggs, extend and sway with the current, creating an engaging display. This species is a foundational element in many reef tanks, appreciated for both its aesthetic appeal and relatively straightforward care. This particular piece measures approximately 10cm when fully extended.

Each polyp of the Frogspawn Coral features multiple fleshy tentacles tipped with a contrasting knob, giving it its common name. The tentacles are typically a translucent shade, often with tips that are lighter or more intensely coloured, moving gently as water flows through them. These corals develop into colonies that can grow quite large, with polyps emerging from a branching skeletal structure. They display a fascinating diurnal rhythm, extending their feeding tentacles more fully at night.

For optimal health, Frogspawn Coral thrives under moderate lighting, ideally between 75-150 PAR, and requires moderate, indirect water flow to keep detritus from settling and encourage polyp extension. Place it on a stable rock in the middle to lower regions of the aquarium, ensuring it has ample space as its sweepers can sting neighbouring corals. Feeding is beneficial, with small, meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods offered a few times a week, though they gain most of their energy from photosynthesis. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-450 ppm, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, and Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. Acclimation should be slow and gradual, allowing the coral time to adjust to new lighting and flow conditions.

Frogspawn Coral makes an excellent focal point or transitional coral between different areas of the reef. Its flowing polyps contribute significantly to the lively appearance of a mature system, especially when paired with other Euphyllia species or contrasting coral types.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
