Description

This WYSIWYG Zoanthus frag features a vibrant mix of colors, with striking orange and blue centers surrounded by bright green skirts. Each polyp is a miniature flower-like structure, creating a beautiful and intricate display that will instantly draw the eye in your reef aquarium. The cluster of polyps on this frag is already well-established, offering an excellent starting point for a colorful colony. Its compact size makes it suitable for placement in various areas of your tank, allowing you to easily integrate it into your existing aquascape.

Zoanthus are relatively easy to care for, making them an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced reef keepers. They thrive under moderate PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) levels, typically ranging from 75 to 150 PAR, but can adapt to a wider range. Moderate to low water flow is preferred, ensuring their polyps can fully extend and capture food particles without being constantly buffeted. Place them on a rock or in the sand bed where they have room to grow and spread into a colony. Avoid placing them too close to aggressive corals that might sting them.

While largely photosynthetic, benefiting from the light provided in your aquarium, Zoanthus can also be spot-fed with a high-quality zooplankton or phytoplankton supplement. This supplemental feeding can encourage faster growth and enhance their stunning coloration. Maintain stable water parameters: Temperature 72-78°F, Salinity 1.024-1.026, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, and Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. They are generally non-aggressive towards other corals, but it is always wise to provide some space between different coral types.

Acclimation should be done using a drip acclimation method over at least 30 minutes to allow the coral to slowly adjust to your tank's water parameters. Once acclimated, gently place the frag in your desired location. Zoanthus are known for their hardiness and ability to quickly establish themselves in a healthy reef environment, making them a very rewarding coral to keep. Regular water changes and monitoring of water parameters will help ensure their continued health and vibrant appearance.

Adding this Zoanthus to your reef tank is a fantastic way to introduce a burst of color and dynamic visual interest without demanding extensive care. Its ability to form dense, colorful carpets over time makes it a centerpiece in any aquascape. Enjoy the intricate beauty and continuous motion of these fascinating polyps as they flourish and expand in your underwater world, providing a peaceful and captivating display for years to come. This particular frag is a prime example of the species' beauty and resilience.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
