Description
Description
This Zoanthus coral features a vibrant and captivating color combination. The polyps display a deep purple body with a striking neon green skirt, and a bright green mouth. This particular colony is dense and well-formed, offering an instant focal point in any reef aquarium. Zoanthus are known for their resilience and ability to thrive in a variety of conditions, making them an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists looking to add a splash of color and movement to their tank. Its unique coloration will stand out under both white and actinic lighting.
Zoanthus are relatively easy to care for, preferring moderate PAR between 50-150. They appreciate low to moderate flow, enough to keep detritus from settling on the polyps but not so much that they are constantly buffeted. Ideal placement is in the middle to lower regions of your aquarium, often on rockwork or even on the sand bed if securely placed. While they primarily derive nutrients from photosynthesis, occasional feeding with fine particulate foods or phytoplankton can enhance their growth and coloration.
Maintain stable water parameters for optimal health: temperature 72-78°F, salinity 1.025-1.026, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. These corals are generally peaceful and non-aggressive towards other corals, but it is always wise to leave a small buffer of space to prevent potential stinging from more aggressive neighbors.
Acclimation should be done using a drip acclimation method over 30 to 60 minutes to allow the coral to adjust to your tank's specific water parameters. Place the coral in a shaded or lower light area for the first few days and gradually move it to its desired location. Observe it closely for signs of stress or irritation during this period.
Zoanthus are a fantastic choice for adding diversity and beauty to your reef tank without demanding extensive care. Their stunning appearance and hardy nature make them a rewarding addition that will surely be admired by all. They propagate readily, and a happy colony will spread, creating a beautiful carpet of colorful polyps.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
