Description

Fiji Yellow Leather Toadstool (Yellow Toadstool Leather, Sarcophyton sp.) is a standout soft coral prized for its bright golden-yellow coloration, classic “mushroom cap” toadstool shape, and gentle, flowing polyps. It’s a fantastic choice for reef keepers who want a hardy, fast-growing coral that adds movement and warmth to the aquascape without demanding ultra-high light or perfect conditions.

This coral does best with moderate lighting and moderate, variable water flow that helps keep its surface clean and encourages full polyp extension. Like other Sarcophyton, it will periodically “shed” a thin waxy layer as it grows—during this time it may look dull or closed for a few days. Good flow is important here, as it helps the coral slough off the film and reopen quickly.

Placement is flexible, but give it room to grow. A healthy Fiji Yellow Leather can expand significantly as it matures, and it prefers a stable spot on rockwork where it won’t be constantly bumped or blasted by direct flow. Because leather corals can release natural chemical compounds, running activated carbon and maintaining good filtration (plus regular water changes) can help keep the whole reef system happy—especially in mixed reefs with more sensitive SPS or LPS.

Feeding isn’t essential, as this coral primarily relies on light and dissolved nutrients, but it often benefits from a nutrient-stable reef with detectable nitrate and phosphate and occasional micro-foods in the water column. Keep parameters steady rather than chasing “perfect” numbers—soft corals generally thrive with consistency, stable salinity, and a balanced, mature system.

Reef compatibility is excellent, making it a great community coral, but allow space between it and other corals to avoid chemical or contact irritation. If you’re after a bright, beginner-friendly soft coral that grows into a beautiful centrepiece and adds that classic reef “sway,” the Fiji Yellow Leather Toadstool is a superb choice for most reef aquariums.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
