Description
Description
Fungia corals, often called plate corals, are a unique and classic large polyp stony coral. Unlike most corals that form colonies, a Fungia is a single, solitary animal that lives unattached on the aquarium floor. This specimen displays a nice mix of yellow and green across its body.
In a home reef, the Fungia coral will live on the sandbed. It has the interesting ability to inflate its tissue with water, making it appear quite fleshy and full. It can also move itself across the sand, a behaviour that is fascinating to watch. This particular one has a small, domed shape. At night or when food is in the water, it may extend short, translucent tentacles from its surface.
For care, Fungia corals prefer the sandbed with low to moderate lighting, in the 75-150 PAR range. They must be placed on a soft substrate, as a fall from the rockwork could damage their base. Low, indirect water flow is ideal to prevent tissue damage. While they are photosynthetic, they are active feeders and benefit from a weekly spot-feeding of mysis shrimp or other small meaty foods. Keep water parameters stable, with calcium at 420-440 ppm and alkalinity between 8-9 dKH. Be sure to give it ample space on the sand, as it will move and can sting corals it touches.
This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
