Description
Description
Fungia corals, often called plate corals, are a classic and fascinating large-polyp stony coral. They are one of the few corals that live as a single, free-living individual rather than a colony. This specimen has a distinct and vibrant yellow colouration.
In a home reef, a Fungia will typically rest on the sandbed. It has a fleshy mantle covered in short tentacles, which it can expand and retract. You may even see it move around the tank floor over time by inflating its tissue. This one exhibits a bright yellow base, sometimes with hints of green showing through under different lighting phases.
For care, place the Fungia on the sandbed in a spot with low to moderate light, ideally in the 100-200 PAR range. It requires low, indirect water flow, as strong currents can flip it over or damage its tissue. While it gets most of its nutrition from light, it is an active eater and benefits from occasional target feeding with mysis shrimp or coral pellets. Be sure to maintain stable alkalinity (8-9 dKH), calcium (420-440 ppm), and magnesium (1300-1400 ppm). Give it plenty of room, as it can move and potentially damage stationary corals.
As a solitary, mobile coral, the Fungia adds a unique point of interest to the lower levels of a reef tank. It’s a hardy choice for most reef systems, provided its needs for space and appropriate flow are met.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
