Description
Description
Zoanthids are a classic soft coral, a staple in the reef aquarium hobby for good reason. These colonial polyps are known for their bright colours and hardiness, forming dense mats over rockwork over time. Their straightforward care requirements make them accessible to beginners while their diverse colour patterns continue to attract experienced hobbyists.
Each zoanthid polyp is a distinct individual, connected to its neighbours by a fleshy base. In a home reef, they grow by budding new polyps, creating a carpet-like effect. Their colouration is highly variable, often featuring contrasting rings of colour on the oral disc and a fringe of tentacles. Depending on the morph, these colours can range from subtle earthy tones to vibrant, multi-coloured patterns under actinic lighting.
For best results, zoanthids do well in moderate lighting, somewhere in the 75-150 PAR range. They are adaptable to various flow conditions but generally prefer moderate, indirect water movement that keeps their surfaces clean. While photosynthetic, they will accept small particle foods, which can enhance growth rates. Maintain stable water parameters, particularly alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium, as you would for any healthy reef. Because they can grow quickly and may contain palytoxin, it's wise to give them their own rock or a defined area where they can be managed.
These corals are a great way to add a splash of living colour to established rockwork or a new dimension to a dedicated nano reef. Their mat-like growth is perfect for covering bare spots or creating a "zoa garden" on an isolated piece of rock, keeping them from encroaching on other corals.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
