Description

Zoanthids are a staple of the reef aquarium hobby, known for their bright colours and relatively forgiving nature. They grow as a mat of individual polyps connected by a fleshy base, each with a distinct oral disc and a fringe of delicate tentacles. Their wide range of colours and patterns makes them a favourite for collectors and beginners alike.

In a home reef, Zoanthid colonies expand outwards, covering rockwork in a dense carpet of colour. The polyps themselves come in a huge variety of colour combinations, from solid oranges and reds to mottled greens and blues, often with contrasting oral discs. Under actinic lighting, many varieties will fluoresce, adding another dimension to the display. Polyps will open and close in response to light and water flow, and may retract if disturbed by tank inhabitants.

For best results, Zoanthids need moderate lighting levels, around 100-200 PAR, though many are adaptable to slightly higher or lower ranges. They prefer moderate, indirect water flow to keep the polyps clean without blasting them shut. Placement can be anywhere from the sandbed to mid-level on the rockwork, as long as lighting and flow are appropriate. While photosynthetic, they benefit from occasional spot feeding with coral-specific liquid or powdered foods. Like all corals, they require stable water parameters, including alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium. It'''As a warning, these corals can contain palytoxin, so it'''s wise to wear gloves and eye protection when handling them out of water.

Their peaceful nature and encrusting growth form make Zoanthids an excellent addition to most reef tanks. They don.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
