Description
This stunning Zoanthus Garden offers a vibrant array of colors, perfect for adding a burst of life to your reef aquarium. Each polyp features a unique combination of purple, green, orange, and blue hues, creating a captivating display. Zoanthus are colonial polyps that form dense mats over rockwork, making them an excellent choice for filling in gaps or creating colorful focal points in your tank. They are generally considered peaceful and will not sting other corals, allowing for diverse coral placement.
Zoanthus are remarkably hardy and adaptable, thriving in a range of conditions. They prefer moderate PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) lighting, typically between 50-150 PAR, but can acclimate to higher or lower levels with proper conditioning. Moderate water flow is ideal, providing essential nutrients and removing waste without dislodging the polyps. Place them on a stable rock or frag plug in the middle to upper regions of your aquarium, ensuring they receive adequate light and flow. Given their fast growth, ensure they have sufficient space to spread and create their colorful colonies.
While primarily photosynthetic, Zoanthus benefit from occasional feeding of phytoplankton or very fine coral foods. This can enhance their growth rate and color intensity. Maintain stable water parameters: salinity 1.024-1.026, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. Regular water changes are critical for maintaining water quality. They are generally non-aggressive, making them suitable for mixed reef tanks, but monitor for faster-growing corals that might overshadow them.
Acclimation should be done slowly using the drip method over 30-60 minutes to minimize stress. Observe new additions closely for several days to ensure they adapt well to their new environment. Zoanthus can occasionally be prone to pests like zoanthid-eating nudibranchs or zoanthid pox, so a brief freshwater dip (30-60 seconds) or coral dip before introduction can be a good preventative measure. Always research and confirm proper dipping procedures for your specific coral and dips.
Adding this WYSIWYG Zoanthus Garden to your reef tank is an effortless way to introduce dazzling color and dynamic growth. Its ease of care and captivating appearance make it a favorite among both beginner and experienced aquarists. Watch as these vibrant polyps multiply, transforming your aquascape into a thriving underwater masterpiece.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
