Description
Zoanthids are a classic soft coral in the reef-keeping hobby, enjoyed for their wide range of colours and relatively straightforward care. As colonial polyps, they form dense mats that can cover rockwork over time, creating a living carpet of colour. This particular colony features a blend of colours, often greens, oranges, or reds, under a range of lighting.
Each polyp in a Zoanthid colony is an individual animal, connected at the base by fleshy tissue called coenenchyme. The polyps themselves are small, with a central mouth surrounded by a ring of short tentacles. They will open and close in response to light and water conditions, and when feeding. Their growth habit is encrusting, meaning they will spread over any hard surface they are attached to, which makes them great for adding colour to bare rock or frag plugs.
For best results, Zoanthids need moderate lighting, somewhere in the 75-150 PAR range. They are quite adaptable but can lose colour if the light is too low or too high. Water flow should be moderate as well — enough to keep them clean, but not so strong that the polyps are constantly blasted shut. They get most of their nutrition from their symbiotic zooxanthellae, but will benefit from occasional spot feeding with coral-specific foods. Keep standard reef parameters stable: Calcium around 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and Magnesium at 1300-1400. It's important to give them some space, as they can overgrow less aggressive neighbours.
Zoanthids can contain palytoxin, so it's always best practice to wear gloves and eye protection when handling them out of the water. With their peaceful nature and minimal demands, they are an excellent choice for adding a splash of dependable colour to almost any reef tank, from nano systems to larger displays.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
