Zoanthus Fragment

Zoanthids are a cornerstone of the reef aquarium hobby, known for their dazzling array of colours and patterns. These colonial polyps are a great way to add a splash of colour to any system, from nano tanks to large-scale reef displays. They grow as a connected mat, with individual polyps joined at the base.

Depending on the specific morph, Zoanthus polyps can display nearly every colour imaginable, often in striking combinations. Their oral disc is typically surrounded by a ring of short, delicate tentacles. In a home reef, they form dense mats that can cover rockwork, creating a living carpet of colour. The polyps will open and close in response to light and water flow, but generally remain open throughout the day.

Care for Zoanthus is straightforward, making them accessible to most hobbyists. They thrive in a wide range of conditions but do best with moderate lighting, around 75-150 PAR, and medium water flow. This helps keep detritus from settling on the mat. While largely photosynthetic, they will benefit from occasional broadcast feeding of fine particulate foods. Maintain stable water parameters, and place them on low to mid-level rockwork. As with their Palythoa relatives, it is wise to wear gloves and eye protection when handling them.

Zoanthids are generally peaceful, but they can grow over slower, less aggressive corals. Many aquarists place them on their own "garden" rock to allow them to spread without encroaching on other specimens. They are easy to propagate, and a small fragment can grow into a beautiful colony over time.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
