24k Australian Gold Torch

The 24k Australian Gold Torch coral is a highly sought-after LPS coral, celebrated for its striking gold appearance and dynamic movement. These corals bring a significant visual impact to any reef aquarium, making them a popular choice among enthusiasts. This piece measures approximately 1-2 Large Heads. They are a classic example of the beauty Euphyllia corals offer.

Torch corals feature long, flowing polyps that extend from a hard skeletal base. The tentacles are a brilliant gold, often with contrasting tips, giving them a rich, luminous quality under proper lighting. These polyps sway gracefully with tank currents, creating an animated display in the aquarium.

Caring for a Torch coral involves providing moderate lighting, typically 75-150 PAR, and moderate, indirect water flow to encourage polyp extension without damaging the delicate tentacles. They prefer placement on the sandbed or lower to mid-level rockwork. For optimal health and growth, ensure stable water parameters: calcium 400-440 ppm, alkalinity 8-10 dKH, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. While primarily photosynthetic, they benefit from occasional spot feeding with zooplankton or other coral foods. When placing them, remember that Torch corals have sweepers at night and require adequate spacing from neighbouring corals to prevent aggression. Acclimation should be gradual, especially to new lighting conditions.

Torch corals can form impressive colonies over time, their bright gold hues adding a focal point to any mixed reef. Their elegant movement and vibrant colour contribute significantly to the overall aesthetic of a healthy reef system.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
