Our quarantine procedures
Our quarantine procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Description
Description
The Blue and Gold Stem Hammer Coral is a standout euphylliid variety that holds a prized position in modern mixed reef aquariums. Belonging to the large polyp stony family, this branching specimen combines classic hammer-shaped polyp tips with distinctive coloration along the tentacles. This piece measures approximately 7cm and features healthy, well-developed tissue extending over a solid skeletal base.
In the aquarium, the tentacles expand generously during the photoperiod, showcasing contrasting tones with rich gold running through the stems beneath soft blue tips. As water moves across the colony, the hammer-shaped ends sway steadily, adding essential kinetic movement to the aquascape. At night, the polyps retract slightly into the skeleton, though a healthy specimen remains fleshy and well-attached around the perimeter of each head.
Care requirements are straightforward for an established LPS system. Position this hammer in the lower to middle section of the rockwork where it receives moderate lighting around 75 to 150 PAR and gentle, indirect water flow. Excessive or direct current can tear the soft tissue against the sharp skeleton, so turbulent or erratic water motion is preferable to linear flow. Maintain standard reef parameters with calcium at 400 to 450 ppm, alkalinity between 8 and 9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300 to 1350 ppm. Like all euphylliids, it packs a potent sting with sweeper tentacles that can extend several inches at night, so provide ample clearance from neighboring corals, and acclimate gradually under reduced lighting.
This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
