Frogspawn Coral

Frogspawn Coral (Euphyllia divisa) is a classic large polyp stony coral that adds wonderful movement and character to a reef aquarium. Its distinctive tentacles, which resemble a cluster of frog eggs, make it a perennial favourite for both new and experienced reef keepers. This particular piece measures approximately 10cm. very hardy coral and a great choice for those looking to expand their LPS collection.

Frogspawn tentacles typically feature a mint green or tan body with lighter, often cream or pinkish, tips. They extend from a stony skeleton and sway gracefully in the water flow. The coral exhibits a unique behaviour where its polyps inflate during the day, extending to capture light and food, and retract slightly at night. Its overall colouration will be consistent with the mint green tones indicated by its species name.

Frogspawn corals thrive in moderate lighting conditions, ideally around 100-200 PAR, though they can adapt to slightly lower or higher levels. Placement in the mid-to-lower regions of the tank is usually ideal. They prefer moderate, indirect water flow that allows their polyps to sway gently without being blasted directly. Feeding is not strictly necessary as they get most of their energy from their symbiotic zooxanthellae, but occasional target feeding with fine coral foods can boost growth. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-450 ppm, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, and Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. While not overtly aggressive, Frogspawn corals have sweeper tentacles that can sting neighbouring corals, so allow adequate spacing.

Frogspawn corals are an excellent choice for a mixed reef, providing visual interest and a sense of maturity to the aquascape. Their movement contrasts beautifully with more static SPS corals and rockwork, bringing a dynamic element to the display.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
