Our quarantine procedures
Our quarantine procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Description
Description
Goniopora, often referred to as the flowerpot coral, is a classic large polyp stony coral that brings exceptional movement and texture to the marine aquarium. This particular specimen displays a striking mix of purple across its polyps, complemented by subtle pink and green accents throughout the structure. It sits as a well-established favourite among reef keepers who want the dynamic, flowing aesthetic typically associated with soft corals alongside the structure of an LPS.
The coral features long, fleshy polyps that extend outward from a dense skeletal base, ending in delicate, multi-tentacled crowns that sway continuously with the current. This piece measures approximately 6cm across its base when resting, expanding considerably once settled and fully open under suitable conditions. The purple hues dominate the overall presentation, while the green and pink undertones provide depth and contrast across the disc and polyp tips.
Care for Goniopora centres on balanced placement and reliable nutrition. It thrives in moderate lighting with a PAR range of 75 to 125, paired with gentle to moderate, indirect flow that keeps the polyps in continuous motion without pinning them back against the skeleton. Positioning in the lower third of the tank or securely on the sandbed works best. Regular targeted feedings of micro-particulate planktonic foods, rotifers, and coral amino acids will significantly benefit long-term vitality. Maintain standard reef chemistry with calcium at 400 to 440 ppm, alkalinity between 8 and 9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300 to 1350 ppm. Provide a reasonable buffer zone between this piece and neighbouring corals, as extended polyps can irritate nearby species, and acclimate slowly to both water parameters and light levels upon introduction.
This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
