Our quarantine procedures
Our quarantine procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Description
Description
The Green Alveopora Colony is a classic large polyp stony coral that brings graceful movement and vibrant natural colour to the modern reef aquarium. Often referred to as the daisy coral or flowerpot coral, Alveopora is prized for its long, delicate stalks topped with floral polyp heads. While closely resembling Goniopora, Alveopora is readily distinguished by having twelve tentacles per polyp rather than twenty-four, and it generally displays a much better track record of long-term hardiness in captivity. This specimen measures approximately 8cm and establishes a brilliant green focal point in any mixed reef system.
Each polyp extends outward from a dense skeleton, waving continuously in the water column to filter out dissolved nutrients and microscopic particles. The tissue displays rich green tones across the stalks, tentacle crowns, and central oral discs, providing visual depth under broad-spectrum or blue-heavy reef lighting. During the day, the polyps expand fully to catch both light and passing food, contracting neatly into the stony base after dark or if physically disturbed by grazing tankmates.
Care requirements are moderate, making this coral well suited for systems with stable parameters. Aim for moderate indirect lighting in the range of 80 to 150 PAR and gentle, meandering water movement. Strong, direct currents should be avoided as they will tear the delicate polyp tissue or prevent extension altogether. Secure placement on the lower to mid rockwork or on the sandbed provides the polyps with sufficient space to expand without brushing against abrasive neighbouring rock. Maintain standard reef chemistry with calcium at 400 to 450 ppm, alkalinity between 8 and 9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300 to 1350 ppm. Weekly target feedings of fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton, rotifers, or microplankton will support sustained growth and polyp density. Give it a few inches of clearance from more aggressive LPS corals to prevent stinging, and acclimate the colony slowly to both water chemistry and lighting intensity.
This is not a WYSIWYG listing; you'll receive a specimen of the same species with similar size and colouration to the one pictured, hand-picked for health and colour.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
