Green Frogspawn Coral

The Frogspawn Coral, Euphyllia divisa, is a classic LPS coral loved by reef keepers for its vibrant appearance and relatively straightforward care. It forms elegant colonies that add significant visual interest to any mature reef aquarium. This green morph is a particularly striking colour variation. This piece measures approximately 12cm.

Green Frogspawn corals grow in a branching pattern, with each branch typically ending in one or more polyps. The polyps themselves are characterised by their long, flowing tentacles, which have rounded, sometimes bulbous, tips resembling frogspawn. These tentacles extend during the day, swaying gently in the current, displaying their rich green coloration.

For optimal health, Frogspawn corals thrive under moderate lighting, typically requiring PAR levels between 75-150. Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to keep the tentacles gently swaying without being blasted, which can cause retraction and stress. Placement in the mid to lower sections of the rockwork is generally suitable. While these corals are primarily photosynthetic, they will benefit from occasional feeding of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 420-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-9 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Euphyllia corals can be aggressive, with long sweeping tentacles that can sting neighbouring corals, so ensure adequate spacing from other specimens. Acclimation should be slow and gradual, especially to new lighting conditions.

Its striking green colour and dynamic polyp movement make the Green Frogspawn a focal point, drawing the eye and adding a sense of natural movement to your reef. It complements both stony and soft coral displays beautifully.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
