Our quarantine procedures
Our quarantine procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Description
Description
The Long Tentacle Green Goniopora, commonly known as the flowerpot coral, is an iconic large polyp stony coral that brings graceful movement and vivid life to a reef aquarium. This piece measures approximately Frag and features extended polyp stalks capped with delicate, daisy-like floral crowns. Its presence adds dynamic visual interest that contrasts beautifully against rigid stony corals.
Each polyp displays a rich, uniform green colouration across the tentacles and oral disc. When fully extended, the tentacles sway continuously in the current, creating the appearance of an underwater meadow. During the day, the polyps stretch outwards toward the light to capture ambient nutrients and fuel their photosynthetic zooxanthellae, retracting into the underlying calcium skeleton when disturbed or during the night.
Care requires stable reef parameters and thoughtful placement. Position this specimen on the sandbed or lower rockwork under moderate lighting around 75 to 125 PAR. Water movement should be moderate and indirect; too much direct force prevents the polyps from extending, while too little allows detritus to settle on the tissue. Goniopora benefit from weekly targeted feedings of microplankton, cyclops, or specialised coral powders. Maintain standard LPS water chemistry with calcium at 420 to 450 ppm, alkalinity between 8 and 9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300 to 1350 ppm. Provide several centimetres of space from neighbouring corals to account for its polyp reach, and acclimate gradually to your tank lighting over a week or two.
This is not a WYSIWYG listing; you'll receive a specimen of the same species with similar size and colouration to the one pictured, hand-picked for health and colour.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
