Our quarantine procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Description

The Orange Lobophyllia, commonly known as a lobed brain coral, is a classic large polyp stony coral that has been a staple in reef aquaria for decades. Valued for its robust nature and distinct appearance, this variety displays rich orange colouration across its fleshy mantle, making it a reliable focal point on the lower levels of a display.

This specimen features thick, lobed folds that expand generously during the day to capture light and retract slightly when disturbed. Measuring approximately 7cm across, it forms a solid, calcareous skeleton beneath its fleshy tissue. At night, it extends short feeding tentacles from its central valleys to trap suspended organic particles and micro-plankton from the water column.

Care for this coral is relatively straightforward once settled. It thrives in moderate lighting, roughly 100 to 150 PAR, alongside low to moderate indirect water movement that keeps detritus from settling on its tissue without folding back its flesh. Place it on the sandbed or secure it low on the rockwork with adequate room, as it can send out sweeper tentacles at night that may sting neighbouring corals. Maintain stable reef parameters with calcium around 420 to 440 ppm, alkalinity at 8 to 9 dKH, and magnesium between 1300 and 1350 ppm. Regular target feedings of finely chopped meaty foods or LPS pellets will support steady growth and strong tissue inflation. Standard drip acclimation and gradual light introduction are recommended when introducing it to your system.

This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.

Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
