Our quarantine procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Description

Goniopora, often referred to as the flowerpot coral, holds a classic place in the marine aquarium hobby and brings exceptional movement to modern reef displays. This variety features rich purple polyps offset with vibrant lemon highlights across the tentacle tips and oral discs, creating an eye-catching contrast that stands out against typical live rock. Offered here as a piece measuring approximately Fragment, it provides an accessible starting point for establishing a flourishing colony in home aquariums.

Each polyp extends outward on a fleshy stalk capped with twenty-four delicate tentacles that sway constantly in ambient water movement. When fully expanded, the colony forms a lush, dome-shaped mound of active polyps that retract tightly into the underlying skeletal base when disturbed or during darkness. The combination of deep purple coloration throughout the stalks and bright lemon centers gives this specimen a dynamic presence, particularly under blue-spectrum reef lighting.

Position this coral on the sandbed or on lower rockwork where it receives moderate, indirect lighting of roughly 75 to 125 PAR. Water movement should be gentle to moderate, just enough to keep the polyps dancing without blowing them flat against the skeleton or causing tissue abrasion. Maintain stable reef parameters with calcium at 420 to 440 ppm, alkalinity between 8 and 9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300 to 1350 ppm. Weekly targeted feedings of fine particulate foods, such as marine snow or rotifers, support steady growth and strong polyp extension. Provide adequate clearance from neighboring corals, as sweeping polyps can irritate nearby species, and acclimate slowly to both water chemistry and lighting upon introduction.

This is not a WYSIWYG listing; you'll receive a specimen of the same species with similar size and colouration to the one pictured, hand-picked for health and colour.

Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
