Reverse Frammer Coral

The Reverse Frammer Coral is a captivating LPS that brings both colour and intricate form to the home aquarium. These corals are cherished for their unique patterns and can be a focal point in a diverse reef display. This piece measures approximately 12cm. Some aquarists consider them a type of Favia or Favites, known for their distinct appearance. This coral is a robust addition to many setups, offering a blend of visual interest and resilience. Many hobbyists appreciate the bold and defined patterns that these corals develop under stable conditions. Their growth form and unique colouration make them a popular choice for those looking to add a standout piece to their collection.

Reverse Frammer Corals typically exhibit a brain-like or encrusting growth habit, forming dense colonies of corallites. The "reverse frammer" patterning refers to a specific colour arrangement where the central disc and outer wall of each corallite display contrasting hues, creating a striking visual effect that reverses between neighbouring polyps. Their fleshy polyps extend during feeding and can show various textures and folds. The individual polyps are often well-defined, contributing to the overall structure and appeal of the colony. When fully expanded, the coral presents a lush, intricate surface.

For optimal health, Reverse Frammer Corals thrive under moderate lighting, ideally between 100-200 PAR, and moderate, indirect water flow to prevent detritus from settling. They should be placed on a stable rockwork structure in the mid to lower sections of the aquarium. While primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with small, meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods a few times a week can enhance growth and colouration. Maintain stable water parameters: calcium at 400-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-10 dKH, and magnesium at 1300-1350 ppm. Give them adequate space, as their sweepers can sting neighbouring corals. A gradual acclimation process is always recommended when introducing new corals to a system.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
