Reverse Toxic Warpaint Scolymia

Scolymia are treasured for their striking patterns and relatively straightforward care, making them a popular choice for reef keepers of all experience levels. This particular piece, a Reverse Toxic Warpaint Scolymia, offers a vibrant addition to the lower levels of a display. This piece measures approximately 5cm. It is a single-polyp LPS coral, prized for its disc-like shape and vivid colouration. When fully inflated, its fleshy mantle will obscure its skeletal structure. The Reverse Toxic Warpaint pattern refers to the specific arrangement of colours and markings across the coral's surface, creating a distinct and captivating appearance. Like other scolymia, it will retract its polyps when disturbed or during acclimation, expanding fully once settled. Scolymia thrive under moderate to low lighting, ideally 50-150 PAR. While they appreciate gentle, indirect flow, avoid direct, strong currents that can cause irritation or tissue damage. Placement on the sandbed or securely on a lower rock ledge is ideal. Though primarily photosynthetic, target feeding small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods a few times a week can significantly boost growth and overall health. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. They are generally peaceful but should be given adequate space, at least 5cm, from other corals to prevent stinging. Acclimate slowly using a drip method over an hour or more to minimise stress.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
